sdpa Students Take Home a Wave of Spring Honors

Congratulations to four sdpa students on a strong run of results this spring.

Khai West, student of Chetan Tierra, won first prize in the 2024 San Diego Chopin Contest, and Luna Lee, also a student of Chetan Tierra, earned an Honorable Mention in the same competition.

Luna also won first prize in the Encinitas Youth Competition, which comes with a performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with orchestra in June.

Arianna Gago, student of Melissa Evans Tierra, earned a Distinction on her ABRSM exam, with special marks for her Mendelssohn performance, a difficult recognition that requires near-perfect scores.

Lochlan, student of Melissa Evans Tierra, won first prize for performance art in the Read! Imagine! Create! competition through San Diego Unified and the San Diego Public Library, performing his first-ever piano composition.
