One Standard, Every Teacher

Every sdpa teacher, including Oksana, is selected and mentored under the standard set by our Artistic Director, Chetan Tierra, a celebrated international concert pianist, a Yamaha Artist, and one of only four Americans to compete at the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition.

Meet Oksana

oksana-piano-teacher-oceanside.jpg

Oksana was born and raised in San Diego and trained at two of the most respected conservatories in the world: a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music (studio of Professor Nelita True), and a Master's degree from the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, Austria (studio of Professor Oleg Marshev). At 13, she was accepted as a private student of the legendary pianist Vitaly Margulis, with whom she studied until his passing.

Her performing career includes a standout milestone: performing the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the San Diego Symphony at their 100th Anniversary Gala, after winning the 2010 Young Artist "Hot Shots" Competition. She's also performed in the La Jolla Music Society's Discovery Series, the San Diego Symphony's Children's Concert Series, and was a regularly featured performer on San Diego's classical station 104.9 FM.

Oksana has been teaching with San Diego Piano Academy since 2022, working with students of all ages and levels. Families consistently point to her patience and the way she adapts to each child, turning even reluctant beginners into kids who genuinely look forward to their lessons. She's also deeply passionate about teaching adult students, and enjoys guiding them with the same care and individualized approach she brings to her younger students. She's newly available to teach in Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Vista, bringing that same track record, along with her concert career and conservatory training, to North County families for the first time.

What Students Say About Oksana

"Things are going great. Both kids love Oksana and I'm really happy about that. I was really worried if a teacher would be a good fit for Emma before we joined, but Oksana's style really works well for Emma. I'm so glad, as Emma was almost at a quitting stage before we joined, and she likes Oksana, which makes everything easier." — Amra Demirovic

"Oksana is amazing, talented and patient, especially with my 7-year-old. I highly recommend her. She is wonderful." — Rishti Gandhi

"We really enjoy working with Oksana, and Grace has been having such a positive experience. We truly appreciate the care and attention she brings to each lesson." — Megan
