KATHY SHOEMAKER
Kathy Shoemaker is one of the top jazz pianists in San Diego, a Berklee-trained composer, vocalist, and performer who has spent three decades shaping both stages and students.
She earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition and Arranging from Berklee College of Music, graduating cum laude and receiving the Berklee Faculty Association Award and the Hank Jones Jazz Masters Award. She went on to study contemporary music at Juilliard, working with piano faculty including Harold Danko and vocal coach Jim Carson, training that shows up in every performance she gives.
She has taught piano from her home studio in Santee since 1994, and her students don't just take lessons, they compete and win. Under her guidance, they've earned MTAC Certificates of Merit, Branch Honors Recital placements, and Senior Medallions, with several going on to major in music in college…
